PLM User Forum

European and North American PLM User Forum meetings are taking place in consecutive weeks:-

  • 13-14 November, Reading, UK
  • 18-19 November, Cleveland, OH

Compact and Focused

These workshops, which aim to give PLM managers a constructive platform to work together on their main constraints and issues, differ from the long-established user meetings of the vendor communities in their size (tens rather than hundreds of people) and their format (group working rather than presentations).

The purpose is for you to work together with other experienced PLM users for a concentrated 2-day period, with the PLMIG writing up the results for you so you can take them away and use them.

European Results

The Reading meeting was very productive and focused on how the commercial benefits of PLM can be demonstrated. The group developed this theme by considering how KPIs can apply to some of the 16 axes of PLM maturity.

Combined Results

The combined results from Reading and Cleveland will be published to delegates by mid-December.  You can find more information on the User Forum page or via .

The Need for User Meetings

A PLMIG survey of nearly 100 PLM-related user groups has revealed that 39% had become defunct and fewer than 10% of the remainder had any activities planned for 2008 or 2009. This suggests that only around 6% of potential user cooperation is actually taking place.

This represents a major lost opportunity for PLM implementors, because the more significant problems in PLM can be resolved only by effective exchange of ideas and methods between experienced users.

The PLM Interest Group aims to redress this by running PLM User Forum meetings in November that will provide a proven 2-day format for PLM managers and directors to work on real PLM issues in all their complexity.
