PLM Benchmark Series Overview User companies need a platform to share their experience, and to compare how well they are implementing PLM. The PLMIG has developed a format in which PLM Teams can do this in a simple and effective way, while the results build into a comprehensive PLM Benchmark.
This means that, by participating in a single workshop with a small number of other user companies, (which allows the group to have very detailed and interactive discussions), each participant gains the results and knowledge from a much larger benchmark base. StructureThe PLMIG PLM Benchmark Series in 2013 will provide a structured platform for PLM Teams to present their ideas and learn the best methods to leverage value from PLM. It is based on the methodology of the PLM Benchmarking Handbook, which has been proven in real benchmarks since 2005. This is the first global benchmark of top-level PLM that has ever been carried out. It will provide international comparisons of performance and progress, and will generate a new common language and measurement structure for the industry. BenefitsThe benefits of benchmarking in this way are extensive. The exercise gives an unparalleled appraisal of the entire PLM implementation, from strategy to operations, and a thorough review of your PLM approach. The compiled Benchmark will answer the most fundamental questions faced by PLM managers, and generate detailed comparative metrics that will give the clearest ever picture of what can be achieved through PLM. Also, at a personal level, it gives PLM Teams from several companies a concentrated, 3-day platform to present their ideas and methodologies to each other; discussing how these have been leveraged to produce business value; and working together as a group to establish what the common parameters are. This aspect is based around the final PLMuERP Workshop at ZF in Friedrichshafen, which was such an engine room of ideas that it was felt we should carry the format through to 2013. If you would like to share detailed presentations with other experienced PLM managers then this format will work very well for you. How to Take PartParticipation is limited to user companies, so that in-depth, neutral comparisons can be made, but there are no other restrictions. Companies of any size, industry or geographical location are welcome to take part. To find out more contact benchmark@plmig.com.
