PLM User Forum

The PLMIG launched its PLM User Forum programme in Europe and the USA with meetings in Reading, UK and Cleveland, OH during November 2008.  These independent, neutral events enable PLM user participants to share views, experiences, and methodologies with each other.

They follow the normal PLMIG format, which means that there are no screens, no exhibitions, and no sales presentations.  They are pure interaction time, and include a written Summary Document of the proceedings after the event.  The aim is to deliver a common view of how to approach and implement PLM.

The background and benefits of these meetings have been developed with extensive input from user companies and there are many related reasons why the User Forum events are needed.  Follow the links below for:-

The background and benefits of these meetings have been published regularly in 2PLM. It may also be useful to read John Stark's own views on the need for these meetings, as expressed in his 2PLM leader articles:-

November 2008 Results

The November launch showed the power of user collaboration in a 2-day format.  As well as sharing ideas about their respective implementations, the users decided that the question:-

"How does PLM measurably affect business performance?"

eclipsed all others, and used the group working sessions to generate a framework to show the commercial value of PLM.  Using the 16 Axes of Maturity defined by the PLM Maturity Reference Manual, they showed that PLM can be mapped onto company performance metrics, and that the method can be developed by any user company.
