PLM User Initiative

Deliverables

The ongoing collaboration of the User Initiative, together with PLMIG workshops staged during the year, will produce all of the following deliverables.  This is what you will gain by participating:-

Commercial Value of PLM
  • A toolkit and metrics to demonstrate the commercial value of the PLM implementation
  • A review of the process improvement and cost reduction potential of PLM
  • A proposed industry framework for calculating and demonstrating PLM ROI
Vision and Definition
  • Industry standard definitions of PLM, its elements, scope and purpose
  • A clear PLM Vision to present at board, executive and operational level
Planning and Roadmapping
  • A formalised method for medium and long-term planning based on PLM Maturity Model roadmapping
Organisation and Culture Change
  • Guidelines for good and bad organisational structure for PLM
  • A set of management tools to enable the PLM manager to expand PLM through the extended organisation, particularly into areas that have geographical or cultural resistance
  • Standards for harmonising PLM across 30 or 40 company locations, and across customer and supplier chains
PLM Techniques
  • Definitions and standards for management of multiple business models; management of multiple product sets; management of software in a PLM environment; Configuration Management; and change processes
  • Ongoing exchange of best practice between participants
Integration
  • Guidelines for PLM in the Lean Environment
  • A framework for PLM-ERP integration and harmonisation
PDM and the IT Platform
  • A formal definition of technical good practice in PDM, with input from users and vendors
  • State-of-the-art reviews of PDM data interoperability, and long-term digital information management, with proposals for future standards development
Industry Development
  • US- and European-based User Forum meetings to extend multi-platform user cooperation
  • Formalised dialogue between users and vendors about improved support and direction of the PLM industry
