PTC and UGS confirm participation as Founder Members of the PLM BRM Project Oxford, England. December 12, 2005 The PLM Interest Group (PLMIG) announced that PTC (www.ptc.com) and UGS (www.ugs.com) have confirmed participation as the first Founder Members in its collaborative multinational project to develop an industry-standard Benefits Reference Model for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). A Group of Founder Members, representing the different constituencies in the world of PLM, is being assembled to drive forward this international, collaborative project. The Founder Members will host a series of 2-day workshops early in 2007 in several different countries to launch the project. About The PLMIG's Benefits Reference Model Project The objective of the PLM Benefits Reference Model project is to develop an industry-agreed standard PLM Benefits Model to help everyone involved in PLM move forward faster. It will enable manufacturing companies to implement PLM faster, and will reduce sales cycles for vendors of PLM products and services. It's generally recognized that this is a 'win-win' project that will help everyone involved in PLM - users, product vendors, service providers, academics, etc. People from all parts of the PLM World agree that the Model will save time when identifying the benefits in each new PLM situation, make it easier to communicate about PLM, and provide a rigorous basis for management decisions about PLM investments. The project is complementary to the efforts of TC 184/SC4 (PLCS AP 239, etc.) which are focused on standardization in the area of technical data. About The PLM Interest Group The PLM Interest Group is a global Group which brings together its members to work proactively to solve their PLM problems.
