Results of London Workshop to launch the PLM Benefits Reference Model Project Oxford, England. March 27, 2006 The Product Lifecycle Management Interest Group (PLMIG) announced results of the PLM Benefits Workshop held on March 21-22, 2006 in London, England. This was the first Workshop in the Launch Phase of the PLM Benefits Reference Model (BRM) Project, which is being driven forward by a Group of Founder Members, representing the different constituencies in the world of PLM. In the Launch Phase of the Project, the PLMIG is jointly organising a series of 2-day workshops with the Founder Members. This was the first Workshop in the series. The London Workshop was organised with the support of UGS (www.ugs.com), one of the Founder Members of the Project. Participants from user, vendor and academic organisations attended the Workshop. Workshop results can be used by the participants in their own organisations, and will also form part of the overall Launch Phase results. The main Deliverables of the Workshop were:
The next Workshop in the series will be held 6-7 April, 2006 at Newton, MA, USA. It is being organised with PTC (www.ptc.com), a Founder Member of the Project. Participation is open to members and non-members of the PLMIG. The PLM Benefits Reference Model Project The objective of the PLM Benefits Reference Model project is to develop an industry-agreed, standard PLM Benefits Model to help everyone involved in PLM move forward faster. The Model will enable manufacturing companies to implement PLM faster, and will reduce sales cycles for vendors of PLM products and services. Results of the project will help everyone involved in PLM - users, product vendors, service providers, academics, etc. The PLM Interest Group The PLM Interest Group is a global Group which brings together its members to work proactively to solve their PLM problems. It has no geographical restrictions on membership or activities. The scope of the PLMIG is the consideration and advancement of Product Lifecycle Management and its related disciplines. Membership of the PLM Interest Group is open to : manufacturers ; developers of PLM and related technologies, vendors and distributors ; system integrators ; consultants ; research institutes ; industry associations ; standardisation bodies ; government agencies ; academia.
