Paris Workshop launches PLM Maturity Reference Model Initiative

Oxford, England. November 09, 2006

The Product Lifecycle Management Interest Group (PLMIG) announced a PLM Maturity Workshop to be hosted by PSA Peugeot Citroën on December 5-7 in Paris, France.

This will be the first in a series of international events to be hosted by Founder Members of the PLM Maturity Reference Model (MRM) Project.

The Workshop in Paris will bring together PLM practitioners and combine their skills and experience to generate:-
  • a common, agreed view of PLM Maturity
  • tools they can use to assess and plan their own PLM
  • the first structure for the industry standard Maturity Reference Model
The Workshop will enable participants to:-
  • examine and evaluate how their implementations relate to overall PLM Maturity
  • learn about the current situation of PLM and the issues that other companies are facing, and generate a group view of how to address them;
  • participate in the only industry-wide initiative addressing PLM Maturity
  • make sure the Reference Model takes account of their specific issues
Workshop Details

The Workshop will be held 5-7 December, 2006 in Paris, France. It is open to participants from all types of PLM organisation, from any country. The language of the workshop will be English, with adaptation for French and other languages as necessary.

The Workshop is open to members and non-members of the PLMIG.

Workshop Deliverables

The Workshop will deliver an outline framework for defining PLM Maturity in real businesses. The results can be used by the participants in their own organisations to confirm progress and to plan for future PLM development. Participants in the Workshop will receive the Version 1 PLM Maturity Reference Document after the event, and will also receive compiled information about the results of the other Workshops in the series.

The PLM Maturity Reference Model Project

The objective of the PLM Maturity Reference Model project is to develop an industry-agreed, standard PLM Maturity Model to help everyone involved in PLM move forward effectively.

The Model will enable manufacturing companies to implement PLM more accurately, and will aid the sales and implementation cycle by clarifying how far an organisation is along the Path to PLM.

The project will help everyone involved in PLM - users, product vendors, service providers, academics, etc. The Model will define the target scenario of "complete PLM" and show the steps and progression to achieving this.
