Overview
Corporate Membership of the PLMIG enables companies to combine their own PLM development with high-level
guidance of the direction that the future direction of PLM should take.
The primary aim of PLM standards is to enable user companies to save the massive amounts of effort that are wasted in rationalising PLM across geographies,
subsidiaries, and the customer/supply chain.
The first PLM standards will not be all-encompassing, mandatory specifications but will be the useful
"building blocks" that help give shape to PLM. The initiative can then progress over time to work on the major standards, such as 'PLM for M&A' and 'PLM Delivery'.
There are benefits for both user companies and suppliers that are actively involved in shaping the new standards. As well as having first use of the new material,
they will be able to directly influence their detail and structure.
