Rules and Regulations of the PLMIG

1. Protection of Knowledge
During PLMIG activities, members must take all necessary steps to respect and protect each other's knowledge and ideas.

2. Accuracy of Information
Each member will use reasonable efforts to ensure the accuracy of any information or materials it supplies to the Group, and to correct promptly any error of which it is notified.

3. Availability of Resources
Members agree not to propose to host or take part in activities unless they are reasonably sure of having appropriate resources available to commit to such activities.

4. Liability of the PLM Interest Group
a) PLMIG activities will lead to many individuals and organisations sharing information and working together. The PLMIG does not accept any special liability for this, nor indemnify any member against the normal consequences of their actions.

b) Members accept that the PLMIG operates for their benefit and is not liable for the consequences of the use of its material, or information gained or relationships formed through membership.

5. Liability of Members
Membership of the PLMIG does not constitute a de facto contractual or partnership arrangement with any other member, and members are therefore not liable for the actions of other members by reason of their membership.

6. Maintenance of Confidentiality by the PLMIG
In the process of representing the views and interests of PLMIG members, the PLMIG itself will become aware of views and facts that are confidential. The PLMIG recognises this fact, will maintain that confidentiality and will ensure that written proceedings and other published material are expressed in a way that is not attributable to their source.

7. Maintenance of Confidentiality by members
a) All information whether written, electronic or oral made available by one member to another member, or to other members, in the course of PLMIG activities, including but not limited to existing know-how, and identified by the member supplying such information as CONFIDENTIAL, shall be kept confidential by the receiving member for a period of one (1) year from the date that such information is received.
b) Confidential information made available by a member shall not be divulged to any third party or used by any receiving member, without the prior written consent of the supplying member, for any purpose other than PLMIG activities.
c) A member who receives confidential information from another member shall not be liable for the disclosure and use of any such information which:
  1. is or becomes available to the public from a source other than the supplying member
  2. is lawfully obtained by the receiving member from a third party
  3. is independently in the possession of the receiving member prior to the receipt of that information from the supplying member
  4. is at any time developed by the receiving member independently of the supplying member's disclosure to the receiving member
  5. is inadvertently or accidentally disclosed, if such disclosure occurs despite the exercise by the receiving member of the same standard of care as the supplying member customarily exercises in order to preserve and safeguard its confidential information
  6. is required to be disclosed by law or court order which binds the receiving party.

d) Any confidential information supplied under the above terms by any member remains the property of the supplying member.

8. Membership Fee
Each member undertakes to pay an annual Membership Fee as described under
Membership Categories and Fees

9. Guarantee
No guarantee of the success of members' PLM activities is offered by the Group.

8. Use of the PLMIG Name
a) Unless authorised in writing, members do not have the right to communicate (speak, write, or otherwise) in the name of the Group.
b) Unless authorised in writing, members do not have the right to use the name of the Group for any purpose, e.g. conferences and events.

11. Failure to observe the Rules and Regulations
Members agree to observe the Rules and Regulations of the PLMIG and understand that failing to do so may result in termination of membership.
