On-Site Workshop: How to Apply PLM Standards

Making them Work in your Business

PLM standards will clarify much of the confusion in PLM implementation and will enable major savings in the effort required to rationalise PLM across large organisations.  They can also show the simplest and most effective way forward for smaller companies.

However, making effective use of standards is not just a matter of receiving the paperwork.  Some of the standards concepts are new, and need to be fully understood, and there are organisational, process and geographical issues to be considered. Therefore, as well as workshops to develop the new standards, the PLMIG is offering on-site sessions to show how the standards can be applied.

The PLM Standards Application Workshop comes to your site in a 1-Day or 2-Day format, to assist in preparing to apply the new standards and (if required) to support the planning and documentation process.

The sessions are focused entirely on PLM within your company.  You receive your own copies of the PLM Standards, including the results of the Global PLM Standards Workshop, the PLM Journal write-ups and the Self-Assessment Toolkit, and the Workshop shows how to apply these for the most effective results.

1-Day Session

This enables the PLM team to understand the new and existing standards and see how they will apply in your organisation.

The morning session covers:-

  • Background to PLM in your Company
  • Overview of Current Standards
  • Overview of PLMIG Standards
  • PLM Landscape and Roadmap
  • Applying PLM Standards
  • Benefits and Opportunities
  • PLM and PDM Planning

The afternoon session concentrates on group working with the PLM Team in order to highlight the opportunities and potential problems in the real environment, and to define a practical adoption programme across the enterprise.

2-Day Format

In the 2-Day format, the second on-site day is used to generate the draft presentation material and documentation that may be needed to support a standards roll-out through the many different parts of the organisation.

The second day format might be:-

  • Review of Organisation and Culture
  • Stakeholder Requirements
  • Communication Levels, and Current Media
  • Draft Presentation Material
  • Draft Documentation Set
  • Refinement/Translation Programme

Location and Fee
The sessions are held at the company site and are based on the company's PLM. The fees are €2500 / $3150 / £2000 per day, discounted for PLMIG members.  Copies of the Self-Assessment Toolkit and the Benchmarking Handbook are included.  Travel and accommodation are charged at cost.
