        PLM Standardisation

2012 Programme

The 2012 programme was launched with a Workshop aimed specifically at how the new PLM standards and best practices can be applied.

Many companies are trying to standardise their PLM processes, methods and IT platforms, but what are the issues involved?  What is the most effective route to standardisation within real, commercial environments?  How well do internally-developed standards match the new industry-wide ones?  Where are the "quick wins" that reinforce progress?

PLM Standards Implementation Workshop

In February 2012 the PLMIG ran a PLM Standards Implementation Workshop to answer these questions, and to enable PLM practitioners to formulate a standards adoption programme for their own implementations.

PLM Innovation

It was held in synergy with the PLM Innovation Congress in Munich on 22-23 February.

This was the first time that a leading PLM conference has invited the PLMIG to partner with it in this way, and offered unique opportunity for delegates to work on their own implementation issues while still taking advantage of the social and networking benefits of the host event.

  PLMIG

Standardisation - Plus!

This was a "full-blooded" PLMIG workshop, in the style of the 2011 events that produced:-

In Munich we continued this drive for new PLM knowledge by generating the first neutral framework for improving PLM implentation via standardisation.

Detailed information and explanations were presented about the new standardised and best-practice material that was generated by the PLMIG's 2011 programme.  The Workshop featured the new PLM Governance Standard, including the full documentation and information about how to apply and assess it.

Synergy with the PLM Innovation Congress

The Agenda for the PLM Standards Implementation Workshop was integrated with that of the main event, so that participants could:-
  • Attend the Chairman's Introduction
  • See the Opening Keynote from ABB
  • Take Lunch with the main Congress
  • Attend a Conference session in the afternoon
  • Network in the Drinks Reception
and, on Day 2:-
  • Sign up for the Think Tank User Groups
  • Attend the Chairman's Introduction
  • See the Opening Presentation by Fiat
  • Attend a Conference Session in the morning
  • Take Lunch with the main Congress
  • Attend the Closing Keynote

In the other direction, the PLM Standards Implementation Workshop provided two half-hour 'Balcony Sessions', in the afternoon of Day 1 and Day 2, so that PLM Innovation Congress delegates could see an overview of the Workshop progress and the new ideas that were being generated.
